地方本位教育可以提高學生的學習成績和改善社區的環境品質以及社會經濟的重要性，因為地方本位教育是立基於在地的社區資源、議題、價值，把整個焦點放在以地方社區做為整合性的學習脈絡；地方本位教育希望能助長學校和社區成為夥伴關係。地方感已成為一種土地和資源管理和社區規劃和設計常用的因素。地方依戀是因為認同於特定的、親密的、熟悉的鄉土而產生的安全感，會涉入許多地方認同和情感因素，對地方產生眷戀和強烈的歸屬感。心理學已發展量測地方依戀的測量工具，本研究使用地方依戀量測工具，量測自願參與的學生及一般組的學生參與一整天地方本位課程前與後對地方依戀的改變狀況，並利用SPSS軟體進行敘述性統計分析，分析結果顯示自願參與課程的學生成效較佳。並根據此結果提出若干建議，以供學校教師，教育主管機關及學校單位實務應用之參考。

Place-based education is grounded in the resources, issues, and values of the local community and focuses on using the local community as an integrating context for learning at all levels. By fostering the growth of partnerships between schools and communities, place-based education works simultaneously to boost student achievement and improve a community's environmental quality and social and economic vitality. Sense of place has become a commonly used factor in land and resource management and in community planning and design. Place attachment is an affective bond that people establish with specific areas where they prefer to remain and where they feel comfortable and safe. It is an emotional attachment involved place dependence and place identity. The design of place-attachment measure instrument is rooted in a theoretical model from environmental psychology. The place attachment instrument were administered as pretests and posttests, at the start and at the end of two groups students participated place based course. According to the study result, there are some practical suggestions for Ministry of Education.
